Don't Let Anything Stop You - Not Even Your Disability

This weekend as I judged the NPC Optimum Classic-Bodybuilding show, I heard the announcement go across the AP system. The introduction sent a quiet shuffle across the theatre's floor. The voice said, "I'd like to bring to the stage...Our Body Building Wheel Chair Class!"

When the competitor came out, the crowd watched in amazement. He took his position at the center of the stage, awaiting the beginning of his performance. All you could see was the back of his chair & the top of his head. The music began to play. He rolled into his turn facing the capitvated audience. Then he displayed an upper body physique that was absolutely amazing! As he threw up his double-bi, all I could do is think of how he overcame his disablity and decided to be the best he could be, inspite of his impairment.

I often think about how we get lost in what we can't do instead of finding a solution to do it. Seeing this competitor, gave me that much more drive and determination to conquer all of my goals and dreams. He raised the resounding of the words, "I can do it!" within my heart, to an all time high. I wanted to share this story with you because you should know that you can still achieve no matter what your disabilties or impairments may be.
It is one of my life long passions and dreams to spread this knowledge & to assist all of our disabled citizens in overcoming. Working with the Special Olympics & taking care of my mother, whom is a single amputee stroke patient, connects my soul to this journey. By sharing stories of people who conquered and defeated their battles, in spite of, I would hope to inspire and keep you motivated to achieve. With that being said, I'd like to say, "Congratulations!" to the NPC Optimum Classic Boby Building Wheel Chair competitor on his 1st Place win!

You Can Do It!
